Hi, thanks for dropping by!

Being outdoors and taking adventures has always been a large piece of my life. Growing up our family trips were camping, fishing, and hunting adventures. When I left the nest for college I went from Arizona to Hawaii where I got an entirely new set of outdoor experiences. Everything from hiking waterfalls to cliff jumping, swimming with turtles, to beach camping. Moving to Colorado brought river rafting into my life, its where I met my husband and where we have chosen to raise our family. As a family we decided that the outdoors was going to be a huge part of our time. Living here really gives us the opportunity to rig to explore with so many wonderful places.

Ryan and I have been making the outdoors part of our relationship since our second date over 14 years ago. We have hiked many of our local trails, backpacked the Black Canyon, rafted the Colorado River and we ride our bikes to our favorite local spots. Eventually choosing to get married in a beautiful canyon that the Dolores River runs through in Gateway Colorado. It was a bonus that the Gateway Canyons Resort is an amazing property with an outstanding staff.

Before we became an us we each had spent time exploring the world of river rafting. The University we went to has an Outdoor Program that you could sign up for all kinds of outdoor trips. I had done an all-girls trip on the Colorado River through Glenwood Canyon and the Shonshone rapids. I had intended on going on the Grand Canyon spring break trip but work schedule cancelled that one. Ryan did get to go on the Grand Canyon trip where they rafted for 9 days and he did the Middle Fork of the Salmon in Idaho for 6 days. Together we did Westwater which was an adventure none of us has forgotten.

Having kids has thrown some new dynamics into exploring outdoors but the time together is so worth the extra stuff and planning. I’ve met so many moms that want to get their kids outdoors more but the idea seams daunting or unsure of what to expect. So that is why I started this adventure because I’ve been in this space my entire life and now with 3 kids I’ve figured out how we rig to explore and would love to help more families find the right rig for their exploration.

When I sat down to think about what advice and information could I offer I kept circling around the thought that each type of outdoor adventure has its own needs so you will find posts for different types of activities, some general tips, exploring with different aged kids and some details on family river rafting. I hope you find some information that helps you and your family rig to explore!
